Exquisite and masterfully done, the album closer for "Food of Love" is also the longest track, giving off the feeling of completion and closure for the album. As the album is titled, the song features the word 'Love' in the title and bears strong resemblance to that of Kansas or Eric Clapton, with whom Elliman began to tour with soon after. Strings soar as Yvonne belts out each note of the song to ensure the listener gets everything he/she wants from it. The song is a rather cynical one, and that suits the album. The song itself is a beautiful ballad that fuses FUNK with SULTRY BALLAD form, making it purely original. By far one of the best tracks of the album, if not the best, or sharing the title with the previous song, Jim Steinman's happing ending. And in the same fashion, this song is a epic one, which comes off more as a soliliguy, adding more to the craft that Elliman was so GREAT and known for! Gotta love her! Love brings Ms. Elliman down, but this song won't bring you!
lyrics
In the beginning something was said and misunderstood.
In the beginning it wasn't so good.
There was no excuse and no abuse.
Just a turning away from the sun.
It should not have begun.
What can you say, when time falls away?
And what's hangin' sad? Nothing to Give.
Nothing you've got that he'll take.
Nothing left to share around.
Nothing but weeping inside....
Ooh, Love's bringing me down,
just an early morning break down.
Ooh love's bringing me down,
bringing me down,
Look out for love! You're bringing me DOWN!
I suppose that's what you get for believing in people,
Trusting them all the time, not just a little.
Oh, now and again, If I become cynical,
please excuse me, something is weeping inside...
Ooh, Love's bringing me down,
just an early morning bring down!
Ooh, love's bringing me down.
Bringing me down,
Look out love, you're bringing me DOWN!
Remember the day I wore a simple smile?
The day I thought I would keep you to me?
The day I told you I should've expected your reaction?
But that's so easy to say!
We spent our daylight hours locked in separate conversation,
You-complaining about my voice I can't remember what I thought about you then.
Ooh, Love's bringing me down.
Just an early morning bring down!
Ooh love's bringing me down!
Bringing me down!
Look out love! You're bringing me down! Oh!
~MUSIC TRIPPIN' ROCKY BREAK~
And now I walk out in the streets alone,
singing these words to the moonlight.
Perfecting on the cobblestones.
So little point in going home.
You're not alone,
No, you're not alone.
You're not ALONE.
Oh, love's bringing me down.
Just an early morning breakdown.
Oh love's bringing me down.
Bringing me down.
Look out love! You're bringing me DOOOWWNN!!!!!
In the beginning something was said and misunderstood.
In the beginning it wasn't so good.
There was no excuse and no abuse, just a turning away from the sun.
It should not have begun...
